Hansaterminaali: Creating visuals for a gateway to Central Europe
3 min read
The Hansaterminal at Vuosaari Harbour, serving numerous passengers on a daily basis, deserved a modern look and identity. In collaboration with Finnlines and Port of Helsinki, I got the opportunity to design a cohesive solution that improved both functionality and beauty.

The goal was to elevate the passenger experience while creating a stylish terminal with a distinct identity and soul. The design draws inspiration from the meeting point of the Baltic Sea and the brand of Port of Helsinki, while also enabling Finnlines to serve its customers more efficiently.

The signage of the Hansaterminal serves passengers in three different languages.

“Finally, we have a terminal that actually looks like a terminal.”
Aletta Kuoksa, Marketing Specialist, Finnlines
Starting point for a European road trip.

The design of the project and its execution, from the initial sketches to the interim presentations and all the way to project documentation, offered great responsibility, challenge, and ultimately, a sense of accomplishment. Creating the identity for Hansaterminaali has been the most complex and rewarding experience of my career to date.
